Ages ago I hinted that Active Directory discovery didn’t do the job of assigning the site code to machines. Well it turns out that you need to configure the Active Directory subnet boundaries in Active Directory before SMS can start assigning machines this way.
If you launch Active Directory Sites and Services and go to Sites —> Subnets, from there you can associate a subnet with a particular site. At work (and on my test setup) there is only one site (Default-First-Site-Name) so it should just be a case of assigning all the subnets to the one site. But I won’t test that during term time. Maybe during the summer holidays … ?
