Ever since the Exchange migration we've had this rouge distribution group that hasn't appeared in anybody's Offline Address Book. If you're an online Outlook user then you're fine, otherwise you just had to remember who the members of the "Americas" group were.

Until today when I decided to get to the bottom of this issue.

After trying to ammend the email address from americas2@... to americas@... , and failing, I started Googling for the error message I was getting: "this email address already exists in this organisation" . I found this post, and so ran  ldifde -f dump.ldf -d "dc=domain,dc=com" on the server and looked at the output in UltraEdit.

Examining this, I found that the email address americas@... was assigned to the security group US - for which I couldn't edit the email address in ADUC. Remembering what I had found before I went searching for ADModify.Net which allowed me to remove the email address for that group.

Assigning the right email in ADUC was then simple enough. After a regeneration of the Offline Address Book and resync of that on my PC I found that the Americas distribution group was back in my Offline Address Book.
