Due to unfortunate problems between WinXP and my company Toshiba laptop (Tecra M3), I was effectively forced to upgrade to WinVista to attain a comfortable working condition. While on most part (the stuff to do my development work) it is operating fine. There are a slew of driver and software incompatibilties that I have not gone around to fully resolving. for example the new Sleep feature does not always reactivate the LCD monitor, leaving me with a "blind" system.
So to ensure proper operation with existing hardware, check to make sure there are new WDDM drivers and their accompanying utility software for them to work cooperatively with WinVista before considering the upgrade.
