  • RPC over HTTP concluded

It’s been sometime since I posted here, or even ‘resolved’ the RPC over HTTP problems I was having. My colleague was also looking a getting RPC over HTTP working. He had found a few posts online that stated that you need to reboot the DC in order for the changes to take effect. Unfortunately at the time we didn’t ...

  • Microsoft Incentives for Licensing

Ever receive those spam messages saying that you can save up to 50% on your Microsoft licensing? Well, you can. Microsoft has a website for submitting rebates and for viewing licensing incentives. To see what I mean, visit MicrosoftIncentives.com.

Yesterday, Microsoft announced two new critical updates. One of these updates was for Exchange 2000 and 2003 including machines with the latest service packs. These should be updated imediately. The other update is for machines with Adobe's Macromedia Flash Player.

  • Thanks for OWA Deleted Items Recovery Console

What a great feature the OWA deleted items recovery console is for Exchange 2003. The fact that you can recover emails with just a click is awesome. The only issue that I see is that I think Administrators should allow or deny this access on a mailbox level. There are some users (such as basic users), who when terminated will just delete all ...

  • RPC over HTTP

I’ve been struggling trying to get RPC over HTTP working from our main Exchange 2003 server. The box itself is on Server 2003 SP1 and is running SP1 of Exchange as well. The problem is that all RPC tests fail and Outlook constantly talks to our Windows 2000 DC regardless of whatever settings I plug into Outlook, Exchange and IIS. Last week ...

  • Missing entry in Offline Address Book

Ever since the Exchange migration we've had this rouge distribution group that hasn't appeared in anybody's Offline Address Book. If you're an online Outlook user then you're fine, otherwise you just had to remember who the members of the ''Americas'' group were. Until today when I decided to get to the bottom of this issue. After trying to ...

  • Exchange SMTP protocol errors

We're still reeling from the Exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration. The guy who did the migration is back in this week and I so I'm able to get a few answers answers to my questions. Anyway, yesterday it was brought to my attention that emails to certain domains weren't getting through. Emails to a sub-section of these domains went through if you ...

  • Exchange address book oddities

We've had some random issues with our address book ever since the migration. One that has been solved is the one where users get the message: 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x8004010F), 'The operation failed. An object could not be found' when trying to send and receive. Time after time I had rebuilt the address list on ...
